Letters to The Friend I Never Had - 1

 Hello, Stranger!

I was just reading Sally Rooney's Normal People. I was reading the bit where Connell writes extensively and beautifully to Marianne via mails. I somehow found the idea very intriguing and beautiful! I was thinking I would do the same except for I couldn't think of a person to whom I would write these letters. So, I thought I would invent you, a stranger, to be a friend I never had so that I can confide in you things I wouldn't even want to tell a part of my own self. How does that sound? Crazy, yes. But, interesting for sure, right?

I like the feeling that there is someone to whom I can write to, there is someone who is anxiously and lovingly waiting for these mails. You are that someone, a figment of my imagination. Let's just give this a try, shall we? I am not owing you any promises about the consistency with which I would write these letters, because, as my friend, the first thing you will come to realise is how much of a procrastinator I am!

So, I am going to share a few of my life updates with you, my thoughts on things, my opinions, my concerns, and so on. And since you have no other choice, you are bound to (sorry, not sorry) listen to me and be my support system. Don't you worry. Given ENOUGH time, I am sure that you'll somehow be able to put up with me!

Its Sunday today. That means I go back to my rat race tomorrow. But while I have today, I will try my best to desperately cling on to the slippery embers of the warmth of weekends. Saturdays are the best, actually. Neither do they have the suddenness of freedom that Fridays offer (which sure is beautiful in its own way, however surprisingly it hits you), nor do they suck the life out of you with the translucency of Sundays.

Anyways, since this is the first of many letters that you are going to be bombarded with, I am going to keep this short. I hope you have a good time whilst reading this. I hope I find solace writing this.

Until next time,
Ciao, FRIEND.😀
